We, at Guardian Angels Home Health Care, are very passionate about helping our Veterans get the care and help they deserve to be able to stay at home.
The HHA (Home Health Aid) program is a FREE program for our Veterans. An agency, such as Guardian Angels, that has a contract with VA, will send aides to the Veterans home to assist with ADL’s (activities of daily living) at no cost to the veteran. A Home Health Aide can be used as a part of an alternative to nursing home care, and to provide Respite Care at home for Veterans’ family caregivers. Home Health Aides can help with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, fixing meals or taking medicines.
This program is also an option for veterans who are isolated or whose caregiver is experiencing a burden of their own and cannot physically perform all the needed tasks or needs an occasional respite.
A veteran can call the VA office on Detroit Ave (419-259-2000, press option 3, then press option 2) to speak to someone to get the process started. You can apply in person also, 1200 S. Detroit Ave. Toledo, Ohio. The Veteran will need a picture ID, insurance information and their DD214. You will have to be seen by one of the VA doctors in order to evaluated and establish what services you would be eligible for. If you have already seen one of the VA doctors, this process is already half completed. It could be 6 hours a week, or up to 20 hours a week. FREE Care!
